My excitement for the ††† Concert becomes intense as I’m approaching The Satellite, on Silverlake Blvd. Driving by the venue I read in bold letters Crosses on the marquee trimmed with bright white bulbs illuminating onto the crowd waiting in line anticipating entrance. After looking for parking on the boulevard while taking swigs of Jack Daniels and dodging for cops, we decided to park valet. Before handing the keys over to our driver, we shared one more swig of our whiskey from the bottle then exited the car. While making our way to the sidewalk outside of the Satellite we see a small crowd of about ten people max (the long line for entrance is gone) and the crowd is surrounding the Chino Moreno. He is just so liked with such reverence and adoration it’s impossible to not acknowledge him for what he truly is- King. I don’t know how long he was outside standing, but by the time we made our way up to him, he was heading back inside the venue. It was nearly 9:15 pm and we approached the bar and ordered Jack and Cokes as the DJ on stage played Prince and Apollonia the entire night before Crosses took the stage. We headed to the floor around 9:40ish. After waiting 1hr and twenty minutes listening to songs such as ‘Sex Shooter’ and ‘1999’ there was a bit of commotion as Chino Moreno was recognized at the bar. The DJ then plays ‘Ataraxia’ by Team Sleep, another one of Chino Moreno’s creative music bands which hypes the crowd even more. Finally, the lights slipped darker than dim and the trinity of crosses that are lighting up in multi-colors introduce the band. The performance Chino Moreno brings is everything you want it to be - passionate, soulful, intense, erotic and beautiful. He holds your hand and guides you to wherever he wants to take and keep you until your heart can’t take it anymore as you’re astonished in such awe with his sex appeal, genius, and playfulness. It always feels like watching him perform that way, like it’s your first time, every time with him. The hour long show went by way too fast. Even after the encore, our crowded tired bodies pulsating with hot sweat, still wanted more. I can’t help but reflect on Chino Moreno and where he has been musically to where he is now. From the metal recognition of Deftones, to his voice that holds the companion to the dreamy beats of Team Sleep, and now to this creative erotic dream that I can’t believe came true that is Crosses Music- I am at a loss of words with how much I am in awe of him. I think of Chino, and of what a brilliant and beautiful soul he is. He’s this man made up of vibrating cells that shake so passionately and wildly hardcore. He just has this beautiful soul of his that pours all over you like syrup and tiny sparkly diamonds. If there is one word that describes how I feel about Chino, that warms me -Proud. Chino, YOU make me proud to say I listen to the gift you bring me that keeps me holding on. You are saving my life. I love you Chino Moreno. You make me proud.

Crosses Music Stage. Wednesday. 03.28.12 Los Angeles, CA @ The Satellite.

Three crosses illuminated from the stage onto an excited crowd pulsing with anticipation of the arrival of Chino Moreno, Shaun Lopez, (and after researching the other members) Chuck Doom, Chris Robyn, Dino Campanella, and Jono Evans. Chino Moreno, front man of Deftones, Team Sleep and now ††† brought us an impeccable debut far beyond what was worth for the 20 bucks a ticket. I’ve seen Deftones in concert several times, yeah I met and hugged Chino too and told him how badly I love him (sadly never been to a Team Sleep concert, though caught some stellar You Tube performances) but I was blown away like never before from his vibe at his first ever Crosses performance on Tuesday 1.31.12 at The Glass House in Pomona, CA. Chino Moreno was breathtaking, mesmerizing, seductive, and erotic -those are words that could only be used to describe R&B Rock singer Prince! However, there was one word that just rides the surface in defining Chino Moreno and Crosses music that night -electric. Crosses music is incandescent, intense, deep, sexy and dark, which again are words that describe the soul of Crosses, Chino Moreno, a man that undoubtedly defines legendary. The deep beats that roamed the room crowded tight of nearly 300 people singing and holding onto every word that shook the room. At one point, from the audience my self and some of the crowd around me were throwing our arms and hands outstretched into the air towards a stage of a trinity of hot white crosses and a singer with a microphone that filled us with his spirit. For a second it reminded me of being at church praising the Lord in live song and worship. Well I can’t lie, I did leave that concert feeling born-again. But honestly though, I don’t have just one favorite moment from that night because every fucking song and performance was a moment. Chino Moreno continued to keep us in awe and completely thrilled the whole night through. He reeled us all in closer and closer. There was just this side of him that he revealed to us that night that was something personal, special and really unique. Chino had this cool, sensual, sexual alter-ego that we got a taste of from his live ‘You’ve seen the Butcher’ performances from the Diamond Eyes Tour; however, on this night we all got lucky and got more than a taste, we got the full course. From his dancing (and I mean he was really getting us going with his moves) in a way that you would probably only see him do celebrating at the club, to his adorable and sweet duet with Annie Hardy that was something tender, fragile and really precious. I’ve been to concerts where I’ve rated them as my top favorites, but I honestly can’t rate this concert with the others. It’s on a league of its own. The Crosses concert was an experience.

I love this picture I took of Chino Moreno singing the first song from the set list  ‘thhlyghst’ because it captures the very essence of himself while in that moment - a tall dark and handsome grim reaper seducing us until our hearts can’t take it anymore to follow him and hang on to him and every pure word that he poured out to us from every breath in his voice… And of course, we did.
